A splash of joy, a moment of wonder & video #100 | Aug '25

💌From My Nest to Yours

Hi friend—welcome! I’m so happy you’re here.

This little letter is where I share joy, reflection, and seasonal wonder from my nature-loving corner of the world. Whether you're a backyard birder, a butterfly admirer, or someone who just enjoys a moment of quiet beauty now and then—you’re in the right place.

🌿Nature Right Now

It’s molting season for Northern Cardinals!
If you’ve noticed a few scruffy faces and patchy feathers hopping around your yard, don’t worry—they’re not sick. They’re simply going through a natural phase of renewal. Like other birds, cardinals shed and replace their worn-out feathers to maintain insulation, flight efficiency, and overall health.

I always find it reassuring to watch the messy parts of transformation unfold like that. There’s beauty even in the in-between. I’ve spotted a few at my feeders lately—tufts sticking out, faces patchy—but still as charming as ever.

✨Reflections of Wonder

There’s something quietly wonderful about seeing birds up close—really up close. Watching them flit around the yard is one thing, but noticing their tiny claws grasp a perch, the intricate details in their feathers, and the way they tilt their heads when they pause—it all makes me feel like I’m getting a secret peek into their world.

Lately, I’ve had a few of these moments thanks to a window feeder that’s become surprisingly popular with some of my regular backyard visitors…including the cardinals! It’s brought me so much joy. In those moments, there’s no distance between us. Just connection—and that’s a happiness all its own.

If you're curious about the feeder, I’ve partnered with Kingsyard to share a 20% off discount. Just use code NATURECOURT at checkout on their Amazon page here.

PS – If you missed my video about this feeder, I shared a sweet story about a brave little wren and a few other curious feathered friends. It was a slow and patient process, but one that ended in a really touching way.

This also turned out to be my 100th YouTube video—which makes it extra special to me. You can watch it here:

👀Behind the Binoculars

While editing footage for my upcoming white ibis video, I came across an older clip that immediately made me smile: a white ibis taking a very enthusiastic bath—splashing, flapping, and fluffing in total delight. I’d shared it before on YouTube, but rediscovering it felt like a surprise feathered bonus tucked into the work.

Editing these videos is a labor of love—sorting through hours of footage, making sure the audio comes through clearly, choosing music, and shaping it all into something that feels joyful, true, and worth sharing. Moments like this remind me why I do it. I’ve included a photo I snapped of that moment below so you can enjoy it too.

Wishing you little joys, soft feathers, and moments of quiet wonder—

December 2025 💌From My Nest to Yours Hello Reader, This year, December snuck in before I knew it—a soft, quiet shift that reminded me how much joy can hide in the smallest everyday moments. This past month has been full of tiny surprises in my little Florida backyard, and I’m grateful I slowed down enough to actually see them. I hope a few small moments have found you, too. 😊 🌿Nature Right Now Our little Ruby-throated Hummingbird is still here—surprising both me and my husband, since we were...

November 2025 💌From My Nest to Yours Hello Reader, The mornings have felt a little different lately—softer, calmer, and just cool enough to make me reach for my tea a little quicker. Here in Florida, though, “cooler” can be a bit of an illusion. One day I’m savoring the crisp air and thinking I might finally need a sweater, and the next… it’s back to summer. 🌞 Florida keeps us on our toes, doesn’t it? 😄 🌿Nature Right Now The Mourning Doves have been puffing up their feathers in the morning...

October 2025 💌From My Nest to Yours Hello Reader, Happy October! 🍂 While I don’t have fiery maples or golden leaves drifting down outside my window, I’ve been soaking up my own kind of fall beauty here in Florida. It’s a softer, subtler shift—but one I’ve grown to love more and more each year. 🌿Nature Right Now Many of the perennials in my garden are bouncing back now that the summer heat has finally eased. The marigolds are blooming again—bright little suns scattered across the garden—and...
